Solution

1) Mr. T\'s Body Mass Index

Body Mass Index = Weight in Kg/ square of height in metres

(weight 330 pounds= 136.08 Kg and height 511 = 1.8034m)

= 136.078/ 1.8034*1.8034

BMI = 41.8

2) Significance of his BMI based on his diagnosis:

Many studies have been conducted to study the association of BMI with inflammatory Bowel disease. The BMI of 41.8 indiactes obesity for Mr. T. But BMI has found to have no direct assoication with the etioliogy of the inflammatory bowel disease Like Crohn\'s disease or Ulcerative Colitis.

3) Differentiate between acute and chronic inflammation?

Acute inflammation is charactersied by a rapid onset whereas Chronic inflammation has a delayed onset. Acute inflammation has a short duration of course (days) whereas chronic inflammation has a long duration of course (weeks or months). Acute inflammation exhibits the cardinal signs and symptoms of pain. redness, heat and swelling whereas chronic inflammation does not exhibit these symptoms. Acute inflammation - fundamental cells involved are Neutrophils and Macrophages. Chronic Inflammation - fundamental cells involved are lymphocytes, macrophages and fibroblasts.

It is described as the chronic inflammation in which the fundamental inflammatory cell involved is the macrophage with variable number of lymphocytes. The macrophages in these instances may aggregate to form a mass called as granuloma.
