9. If a rock has a permeability of 1 millidarcy, how much water will flow through it per unit of time and area under a gradient of unity? (The water temperature is 20°c.)

Solution

As per darcy\'s law, Q=KIA

Where Q is flow of water per unit time.

I= gradient= 1 (given)

A= Area under which it is flowing = 1 (given)

Therefore, Q= KIA

= 1*0.001 *1*1= 0.001 cm3/s (since: 1 darcy permits 1cm3/s of flow)
