Please answer this: I need the help
***** In the nitrate test, the zinc trick works well to distinguish strains that ignore the nitrate from those strains that reduce the nitrate all the way to molecular nitrogen (N2) or ammonia (NH3) (or nitric oxide (NO) or nitrous oxide (N2O)). However, for the strains that reduce nitrate past the nitrite stage, I want to know which ones produce ammonia and which produce molecular nitrogen. Suggest plausible modification(s) to the nitrate test that could accomplish this goal. (Hint: You don\'t need anything weird or fancy. Just adapt the nitrate test to include some features of the other kinds of tests you\'ve done in micro lab). (your answer must be 100 words or fewer)
Solution
Ammonia is formed from the nitrogen itself. The NH4+(ammonia) formed as a result of nitrate reduction .Moreover the N2 fixation occurs first and this is converted into into amino acids via the glutamine synthetase (GS) reaction.
On the other hand molecular nitrgen is produced from the nitric oxide (NO) or nitrous oxide (N2O).
