CLAY A potter crafts a triangular prism out of clay. The height of the clay prism is 9 centimeters. Each triangle has a base of 12 centimeters and a height of 4 centimeters. What is the volume of the clay piece? PAPERWEIGHT A novelty paperweight has a triangular base with an area of 15 square centimeters. If the height of the paperweight is 1.5 centimeters, what is the volume of the paperweight?
Solution
Volume of a prism = (Base area of triangle* Height of prism)
3) Base area = Area of triangle = (1/2) * 12 * 4 = 24cm2
Height of prism = 12cm
Therefore Volume = (24*12) = 288cm3.
5) Here base area is given = 15cm2.
Height of Prism = 1.5cm
Therefore Volume = (15*1.5) = 22.5cm3.
