The following table shows data on 10000 persons in a certain location, half of whom were exposed to anthrax spores. Not all got the disease. Calculate the proportion that got the disease Calculate the odds ratio of getting disease given exposure

Solution

a) Total number of person who got the disease = 110.

And the total number of people under observation = 10000.

So, the probability that a randomly selected person had the disease = 110 / 10000 = 0.011

b) Odds ratio is defined as the ratio of cases in favor of the event to the cases not in favor of the event. Here, the number of people who got the disease given exposure = 100 and those who didn\'t get the disease given exposure = 4900.

So, the odds ratio is = 100 / 4900 = 1/49= 0.0204.

The following table shows data on 10000 persons in a certain location, half of whom were exposed to anthrax spores. Not all got the disease. Calculate the prop
