In charging a capacitor through a resistance; can we measure the time constant t directly by taking only one measurement of time which is equal to the time constant of the RC circuit? Explain your answer clearly.
Solution
We know that Vc=V(1-e-(t/RC)) for Series RC Circuit with DC exxitation.
.here Vc which is Exponential inreasing function.
Now Time Constant (Tow) is Obtained by putting t=RC in Vc ,which gives Vc=(1-.0368)=0.632V
i,e Now Time Constant Tc is defined as the time by which the capacitor attains 63.2% of its final Steady
State value.
