Assume that the cities lie on the same north-south line and that the radius of the earth is 6400 km. Find the distance between City A, 62 degree N and City B, 29 degree N. (Round to the nearest kilometer.)

Solution

difference between the angles = 62 - 29 = 33 degrees = 11 pi / 60

distance = 6400 * ( 11pi / 60 ) = 3684 kilometres
