Evolutionary psychology is an approach in which the psychological structure is examined through a modern evolutionary perspective which also considers and identifies human psychological traits that are involved in evolved adaptations. These evolved adaptations include functional products of natural selection or sexual selection in human evolution.

Evolutionary biology does suggest about the physiological adaptations of the heart, immune system and lungs , but the evolutionary psychologists that the physiological adaptations has been as a result of psychological adaptations in order to correct problems in the ancestors.

Evolutionary psychology has tried to remodel the behaviour of a human in order to search for a healthier mate or the ability to posses emotions, as an adaptation from the past. The criticism for this theory is that there has not been any testing or any explanations about the genetic changes that have occurred in the humans over the past years. All the changes have been attributed to the psychology including uncertainties about the ancestral environments. Even sensation and perception have been attributed to the evolutionary psychology, along with cognitive approaches. The entire theory has been stipulated on the basis of theories and hypothesis rather than concrete evidences.
