Explain why database integrity constraints are important to ensure data quality and list the types of constraints that can be used with a relational database.

Solution

Constraints mean rules. The Integrity constraints are used to ensure the correctness and reliability of data in relational database. The dat in database must be correct and must be in a proper condition. There are domain integrity, entity integrity, referential integrity and foreign key integrity constraints.

Domain integrity means a valid set of data for an attribute like data type, size and uniqueness are checked.

Entity integrity indicates that the primary keys must have proper value and it should not be empty because it is used to identify individual rows.
