in the case of the Bacillis strain, why would a young culture be used for gram staining while an old culture is used when spore staining?

Solution

Older clustures donot retain the staining due to weak cell walls hence for old bacillus cultures endospore staining is done as endospores are more stable structures. The young cultures wil retain the stain so gram negative staining is done.
