A pharma company before launching its drug it need to get approval from FDA and hence many clinical trials are carried out. If the drug safety and efficacy are not compromised then the FDA approves the drug and licence is offered to the pharma company.

If in any case the licenced drug leads to any serious condition then the FDA cancels the drug licence to the pharma company and ban the drug. The pharma companies have to bear many serious consequences.
