Problem 31 Solutionlet colar A move has a displacement y dow

Problem 3.1

Solution

let colar A move has a displacement y down wards

then the displacement of collar B would be (y-2y)/2 = -y/2

hence if collar B moves downwards with speed V

then collar A would move up with speed 2v

as VB= 300 mm/s

a) VA = 600 mm/s upwards

b) Vc = 2VA = 1200 mm/s downwards

c) VD = 1200 mm/s upwards

d) VCA = 1200 - (-600) = 1800 m/s downwards
