3 If a solution contains 01 M glucose along with 015 M NaCl

3. If a solution contains 0.1 M glucose along with 0.15 M NaCl, what is the osmolarity of this solution?
a. 0.25 M
b. 400 mOsm
c. 250 mOsm
d. 350 mOsm
e. 0.4 M

Solution

As 1 M glucose gives 1 Osm solution so 0.1M glucose will give 0.1OSM solution. and 1M NaCl gives 2Osm solution so 0.15M MaCl will give 0.3OSM solutin.

hence the solution which contains 0.1M glucose and 0.15M Nacl osmolarity will be 0.4 Osm or 400mOsm.
