Answer the following question about human evolution as inferred from genome sequencing.
How can you identify whether a portion of your genome has Neandertal ancestry? ( 2 sentences maximum; one drawing acceptable with and explanation)
Solution
Almost 55 percent of the neanderthal genome has been sequenced. By comparing the genome of modern day humans with the neanderthal DNA, one can calculate the whether a person has neamderthal ancestory. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is a powerful toll used to drive the above experiments.
