A pl an view of a framing plan is shown. Find the maximum factored moment and shear in the girder spanning the 30\' between the two columns. Note that this is an elevated floor. There is a partition hung from this girder. The partition is installed along the entire girder and supported by it. 30 ft Dead Loads Partition hung from Beams and along girder 0.075 ksf 0.008 ksf 0.010 ksf 1 kip/ft Slab Misc. Solution

Tributary width of the beam = (10/2)+(13/2)=11.5 ft

dead load from slab on beam = 0.075*11.5=0.8625 klf

dead load from beam=0.008*11.5=0.092 klf

Misc load = 0.01*11.5=0.115 klf

Partition load=1 klf

live load = 0.25*11.5=2.875 klf

Total factored uniform load on beam = 1.2*(0.8625+0.092+0.115+1)+1.6*2.875=7.0834 klf

span of beam=30 ft

Factored shear force in beam = 7.0834*30/2=106.25 kips

Factored moment in beam = 7.0834*302/8=796.88 kip-ft
