The meaning of oxygenation alterations is any disturbance in the normal respiratory process. it could mean any difficulty in alveolar gas exchange or oxygen uptake and circulation.
the risk factors of it could be any of the following:
any abnormality in the pH of the arteries
any abnormality in the blood gases of the arteries.
the breathing pattern is abnormal (includes rate , depth and rhythm )
in neonatal cases, it could be cyanosis or lack of Oxygen reaching the lungs.
altered uptake of oxygen by the tissues.
hypoventilation
some diseases that could affect the oxgenation are:
anaemia, artherosclerosis, heart failure, obstructive pulmonary diseases.
