1- A sequence with all its poles and zeros in conjugate reciprocal pair is called as zero phase sequence.
2- A zero phase sequence having additional poles or zeros at z=0,1,infinity or -1 is called as generalised linear -phase system;

Its given in text book on 5.7 Linear system with Generalized Linear Phase   

The statement is explaning that the poles and zeroes must be in conjugate in tranfer function if it has to be generalized linear phase system and if you add additional poles or zeroes at Z=0,1 , infinity or -1 that it will increase its stability.
