They all start at one end of the woods at the same starting line. During the race, there are many splits in the path, and the runners are allowed to take either fork. As runners race through the trees, they carry a card that they must have stamped at check-in stations along the way. The cards you have been working with are the cards that the 8 runners had stamped during their imaginary race. Using this information and the following rules, your challenge is to draw out a map of the racecourse. Rules: All runners must complete the race. They cannot stop part of the way down a path. When the path branches, it branches into only two new paths, never three or more. Once two paths have branched off from one another, they can never reunite. There is only one check-in station per stamp, and they are located along the straight sections between the branching points of the paths. This question may seem difficult at first glance, but allow yourself to give it a go before seeking additional assistance. Now study the 9th card (the light blue card). Attempt to fit it into the racecourse that you have drawn. What is difficult about this task, and how might you modify your map to accommodate this 9th card?
