you are studying the relationship between chromosomes chromo

you are studying the relationship between chromosomes, chromotids, and number of DNA molecules in the cells of an organism. based on the basic fundamentals of the cell cycle, meosis and mitosis, anwser the following questions?
a. if a cell in anaphase II contains 36 DNA molecules, then a cell in anaphase of mitosis would contain how many chromosomes?
b. if an ovum contains 64 chromosomes, then a cell in anaphase of mitosis would contain how many chromotids?
c. if a cell in the G1 phase contain 12 chromosomes, then a cell in early telophase II would contain how many DNA molecules?
D. if a cell in the G2 phase contains 128ng of DNA, then a second polar body would contain how much DNA?

Solution

a: Anaphase II cell contains half the DNA molecules as the homologous chromosomes have been segregated in anaphase I. So, if the anaphase II cell has 36 DNA molecules, the anaphase cell of mitosis would have 72DNA molecules which would be accomodated in 36 chromosomes, each having two sister chromatids. Answer is 36 chromosomes.
b: ovum is haploid cell. If it has 64 chromosomes, the cell of anaphase would have 128 chromosomes. Since the DNA replication has been done in S phase, each of these 128 chromosomes would have two sister chromatids. So, total number of chromatids in the anaphase cell= 256.
c: Telophase II cell contains half the chromosomes and therefore, half the DNA molecules as that of parent cell. If the G2 cell has 12 chromosomes, the number of chromosomes and DNA molecules in the parent cell is 12 and 12 respectively. So, the telophase II cell would contain 6 DNA molecules.
d: The second polar body is the product of meiosis II in the primary oocyte. Since meiosis reduces the number of chromosomes and DNA to half in the daughter cells, the second polar body would have 32ngDNA. G2 cell has duplicated DNA content as that of parent cell, so, the parent cell has 64ng DNA.
