Determine the quadrant in which each angle lies. (The angle measure is given in radians.) Determine the quadrant in which each angle lies. (The angle measure is given in radians.) Determine two coterminal angles (one positive and one negative) for each angle. Give your answers in radians. (Enter your answers as a comma-separated list.)

Solution

a) pi/4 < pi/2 so it lies in Ist Quad

b) 5pi/4 = pi +pi/4 > pi and < 3pi/2 so, it les in IIIrd quadrant

c) -6pi/7 < -pi and > -3pi/2 so it lies in IIIrd quadrant

d) -11pi/9 = -2pi -3pi/4 = -3pi/4 it lies in IIIrd Quadrant

e) Coterminal anles are given by addign 360 deg and subtracting 360 deg from given angles:

5pi/6 -2pi = -7pi/6 ; 5pi/6 +2pi = 17pi/6

-7pi/3 -2pi = -13pi/3 ; -7pi/3 +2pi = -pi/3

These are the coterminal angles
