A fan running at 400rpm delivers air at a rate of LOO L/s. The total head rise across the fan is 20 cm and the fan efficiency is 0.7. A second fan, with linear dimensions two thirds of the former, runs at 800rpm under dynamically similar conditions and with the same efficiency; it is to be placed on a space satellite where simulated gravity produces a gravitational field which is 50% that of earth. What are the flow rate, head rise and power requirements for the second fan. The pump in the sketch below is to deliver 110 liters s to the outlet at elevation 165m and 220 liters ts to the upper reservoir. Calculate pump power and required diameter of the 300m pipe. Elevations are in meters.
