Ethics in the field of engineering is a responsibility to protect the public welfare by briging the highest standards of honesty and integrity to their practice. Engineers always need to behave ethically as the welfare of the public often hang on the equality, reliability and safety of their designs.

Ethical dilemma is a situation where moral reasons can be given to support two or more opposing courses of action. It is sometimes a difficult task to decide which competing moral viewpoint is the most compelling or most correct.
