If you use a smartphone with a limit on the number of data bytes received each month, would you prefer POP3 or IMAP4? Explain

Solution

First of we should the working of both POP3 and IMAP4.

POP3:In this, protocol when you open your email account then it will automatically download emails from server to your local machine i.e.computer,mobile etc. After downloading,it will delete from your online server because it has small size.Hence, mails are stored at local machine not on server.

IMAP:it doesn\'t download email like POP3.It is more synchronized protocol. In this, when you open your email,it will download. But it will not download unless you open it.Again if it has some attachment it will not automatically download unless you configure it for automatic.Another, thing is when you delete email ,it will delete from your local machine ,server side and from everywhere.Hence, everything is synchronized.

Hence, from above two protocols we can see that if we use POP3 with given smartphone, then memory will become full as it is limited and POP3 will store all on local machine But when you use IMAP ,it will emails such that everything is managed at server so there is no worry about smartphone memory,it will only used for attachment download

Hence, from aove discussion it is clear that IMAP4 is better in all cases
