Plants use energy from sunlight to turn water and carbon dioxide into an energy-rich sugar called glucose. This process is called as photosynthesis, Oxygen is created as a by-product.

The building and breaking of carbon-based material — from carbon dioxide to complex organic molecules (photosynthesis) then back to carbon dioxide (respiration) — is part of what is commonly called the global carbon cycle.
Photosynthesis consists of both light-dependent reactions and light-independent reactions.Light reaction occurs at thylakoid contains chlorophyll.
When light energy reaches the pigment molecules, it energizes the electrons within them, and these electrons are shunted to an electron transport chain in the thylakoid membrane. Every step in the electron transport chain then brings each electron to a lower energy state and harnesses its energy by producing ATP and NADPH.
It would take six turns of the calvin cycle, or 6CO2, 18 ATP, and 12 NADPH, to produce one molecule of glucose.

Glucose is converted to sucrose after synthesis.The sugar and other organic molecules are transported through the plant by means of a special layer of tissue called phloem. Phloem is composed of living cells that transport a water solution of sugars that we commonly call sap. This movement is modeled by the pressure-flow theory, a part of which is that the sugar-containing fluid is moved through sieve tubes by fluid pressure.

In plant system it is triose phosphate translocator which is transported across the chloroplast.
The imported phosphate is then used for ATP regeneration via the light-dependent-reaction; the ATP may then for example be used for further reactions in the Calvin-cycle.The Translocator protein is responsible for exporting all the carbohydrate produced in photosynthesis by plants and therefore most of the carbon in food that one eats has been transported by the triose phosphate translocator.
