Consider the following equilibrium
Thio is apicl physicaf and hem 2. Consider the following equilibrium 1 S Baso4() Ba2 (a)+SO (aq), AH>0 In which direction will the equilibrium shift if a. H2SO4 is added? Why? b. BaCl2 is added? Why\'? c. NaCl is added? Why? d. Heat is added? Why? trous acid, HNO2, a weak ac 3. Consider the following equilibrium for ni HNO2 (aq) + H20(1)HjO+ (aq) + NO2-(aq) In which direction will the equilibrium shift if a. NaOH is added? b. NaNO2 is added?

Solution

2)   a) shift to left (reactants side )

the reason is that on additon of H2SO4 there will be SO4-2 ion in common both . due to comon ion on product side the reaction will shift to backward direction

b) shift to left (reactants side )

here also same reason . common ion Ba+2 is on product side . so shifts to left

c)   NaCl added shift to right becuase Na+ react with SO4-2 and Cl- react with Ba+2 so product concentration decreases and the reaction shifts to forward direction

2Na+   + SO4-2 --------------> Na2SO4

Ba+2 + 2Cl- ----------------> BaCl2

d) forward reaction is endothermic so higher temperatures are fovor forward direction . so

heat added the reaction shifts to forward direction

3)

a) NaOH added shifts to right forward direction due to HNO2 concentration will decreases

HNO2 + NaOH -------------> NaNO2 + H2O

b) if NaNO2 is added the reaction shifts to backward direction (left) due to common ion on products side

Consider the following equilibrium Thio is apicl physicaf and hem 2. Consider the following equilibrium 1 S Baso4() Ba2 (a)+SO (aq), AH>0 In which direction
