Explain Is it necessarily inequitable for future generations
Explain. Is it necessarily inequitable for future generations to face higher taxes as a result of benefits that a cure to those living today?
Solution
I think it is necessarily inequitable since the benefits are going to someone and the costs are being borne by someone else. It would have been equitable had the benefits and the costs would be realized by the same person. However, this is not the case here. If benefits occur only to those who are living today and the costs (in terms of higher taxes) are borne by subsequent generations, the higher taxes will be necessarily inequitable.
