Propose a method, to reduce heat loss in an IC engine therefore increasing the efficiency of the engine.

** The whole idea is propose a method in which we can reduce heat loss in IC engine, for example new technologies, or modifying the engine. However I would like to know how would you do this (method), how long will it take to accomplish the objective (timeline) how much you estimate the research and production will cost(budget), and how would this benefit society?

As you have asked propose a method in which we can reduce the heat loss of ic engine example new technologies or modifying the engine?? So primarily I will   give the answer this first

There are several technologies we can implement to increase performance and decrease the heat loss. Directly or indirectly it depends on efficiency of engine if we reduce the heat loss.

– That from unburned gas is relatively small

– Flame geometry and charge motion/turbulence level affects heat transfer rate

This are following techniques via we can reduce the heat losses in the engine. I will not suggest for any modification in existing engine instead of modifying we can implement these techniques to reduce the heat losses.

Second one is about which method I will prefer, how I will implement, estimated time, estimated cost, effect on society.

I will prefer method no. 5. where you can reduce heat losses in the engine via insulating the ports or you can implement engine cooling system as well as engines with the exhaust port, cylinder head, and piston and cylinder liner insulated individually or in combination.

How I will implement: implementation is really easier just you have to choose proper type of piston seals, cylinder head seals. For exhaust port you have to provide a insulator so that it will block the heat losses. We can done the cooling of engine by implementing fins on engine cylinder.

Estimated time: Time its depend on you if you want to finish this as early as possible then it will take nearly 3-4 days for insulation fitting, 3-4 days for implementing fins on cylinder.

Estimated cost: this is totally depends on you. What kind of seals you take, type of insulations you will prefer or types of fins you take. I can’t suggest you proper cost, just do research for this.

Effect on society: This method has really low cost as compared to others as well as it is easy to implement, it doesn’t require any Einstein or Newton to implement this method. This method will increase the efficiency of engine in greater extent, this will be beneficial for society.
