Find a formula for the function whose graph is the line pass

Find a formula for the function whose graph is the line passing through the points (1, 2) and (9, 7). What is the formula in slope-intercept form? A. f(x) = (Use integers or fractions for any numbers in the equation.) B. There is no slope-intercept form.

Solution

Find slope,

m= (y2 - y1)/ (x2 - x1)
m= (7 - 2)/ (9 - 1)
m= 5/8
equation of line formula
y - y1 = m(x - x1)
y - 2 = (5/8) (x - 1)
y - 2 = (5x/8) - (5/8)

y =(5x/8)+(11/8)
y = (5x+11)/(8)
8y =5x+11

This is slope intercept form.
