When the temperature is 0 degrees Celsius the Fahrenheit tem

When the temperature is 0 degrees Celsius, the Fahrenheit temperature is 32 When the Celsius temperature is 100, the corresponding Fahrenheit temperature is 212 Express the Fahrenheit temperature as a linear function of C, the Celsius temperature. F(C) Find the rate of change of Fahrenheit temperature for each unit change temperature of Celsius. Fahrenheit degrees per Celsius degrees Find and interpret F(29). Round to 1 decimal place.

Solution

let two points be C nd F

( 0 , 32 )

( 100 , 212 )

now we have two points and we can find a linear equation from this

standrad linear equation is y = mx + b

finding slope m = y2-y1 / x2-x1 = 212 - 32 / 100 - 0

m = 180 / 100 = 9/5

b = 32

hence , linear equation becomes

F = 9/5 C + 32

B) rate of change = 9/5

c) F (29) = plug c = 29

F = 9/5 (29) + 32 = 84.2

F (-40) = plug C = -40

F = 9/5 (-40) + 32 = - 40

 When the temperature is 0 degrees Celsius, the Fahrenheit temperature is 32 When the Celsius temperature is 100, the corresponding Fahrenheit temperature is 21
