Why do the economists doubt that the infant industry argument is a good argument for the trade restrictions? Explain in your own words.

The argument that infant industries need protection for some time in order to compete with global giants is put forward to protect the domestic markets as the global giants from developed economies would dominant and exploit the market.

But from the economists point of view, in the long run the protectionism is threat for the domestic countries as it would not encourage the domestic to compete and make to continue be inefficient. The inefficiency would lead to be unproductive and increase the cost for both producer and consumer.
