In the following gear system gear D has angular velocity of

In the following gear system, gear D has angular velocity of 5 rad/s clockwise and the arm BC has angular velocity 4 rad s counterclockwise. Find the IC of the outer gear R.

Solution

solution:

1)in given gear system having gear D and A are placed inside ring gear R and gear A and D are connected by arm BC.

2)here here instaneous centre of gear A,D and R are lie at same point and it is at centre of arm BC.

3)from gear dimension we can write that

length of armBC=Da+Dd-Ra-Rd=[2*75+2*150]-75-150=225 mm

4)hence centre of whole gearing system will lie at centre of arm BC at distance of 225/2=112.5 mm from point B and 112.5 mm from point A.

5)so we get that instaneous centre of ring gear R is at centre of arm BC or at distance of 112.5 mm from point A and D and it is fixed for all positions of all gears.

In the following gear system, gear D has angular velocity of 5 rad/s clockwise and the arm BC has angular velocity 4 rad s counterclockwise. Find the IC of the
