As per the given information .the whole of the barium sulfate in the solution was precipitated as barium sulfate and mass of barium sulfate precpitate determined gravimetrically.

Determination of mass of barium in the solution=mass of barium in the precipitate.

mass of barium sulfate=(b-a) g

233.36g (1mol ) of barium sulfate(BaSO4 ) contain 137.36g(=1 mol) of barium

so, mass of barium in (b-a )g=(137.36g/233.36g )*(b-a) g

mass of barium in the whole solution=(137.36g/233.36g )*(b-a) g
