a. Find an example of an odd number x and an even number y such that x-y=7.

Solution

Given

x - y = 7

y=x-7

x = all odd numbers {...-3,-1,1,3,5.....}

y= all even numbers {...-4,-2,2,4,6....}

if we take x = -3

then

y=-3-7=-10

so

substitute it in the given equation..

x-y=10

3-(-10_=10

10=10

x= 3 and y = -10 is one example...
