samples of sem can be solid, bulk of any size that will fit in specimen chamber. the sample must be electrically conductive at least at the surface and electrically grounded to prevent the acumlation of electrostatic charge.the specimen need to be completely dry as the specimen chamber is at high vaccum. soft bodies are generally used.
