In your opinion should managers attempt to motivate employee
In your opinion, should managers attempt to motivate employees with different ethnic backgrounds all in the same manner? Why or why not? In your discussion, provide examples of the the different ethnic backgrounds.
Solution
Yes it is important for managers to motivate employees from different ethnic backgrounds in a different manner. They cannot use the same method for employees of different ethnic groups.
There are differences in cultural values which would mean needing extra skills and different technique for motivating the behavior of the individuals. It is important for managers to nutcase the situation and make use of a strategy which is fit for the individual. The cultural background of the individual, the values and needs are responsible for the way he or she reacts to the motivation. While working with individuals from similar background the approach will be the same pertaining to the similar values and backgrounds. This will not create complications to understand how to motivate the individuals. However the different ethnic backgrounds need to take into account motivation strategies that are culturally aware.
For example Japanese tend to consider their work as family and important part of their life. They are very sensitive towards the approach and they have formal ways of working. If a Japanese employee is working in America informal ways of motivation cannot be used. It is necessary to take into account their formal and sensitive ways while designing motivation strategies.
