One canned juice drink is 20 orange juice another is 5 orang

One canned juice drink is 20% orange juice; another is 5% orange juice. How many liters of each should be mixed together in order to get 15L that is 12% orange juice?

Solution

Let x litres of 20% orange juice is mixed

Let y litres of 5% orange iuice is mixed

x+y = 15 ------(1)

(0.2x + 0.05y)/(x+y) = 0.12

0.2x +0.05y = 0.12x +0.12y

0.08x = 0.07y

8x = 7y -----(2)

Solve equation 1 and 2:

x+ 8x/7 = 15

15x/7 = 15

x =7 lites and y = 8 litres
