Maglev is basically made from two words -

Mag + Lev . Mag stands for magnet and Lev stands for levitation. It means levitating with the help of magnet. It is a system of train transportation in which two sets of magnet are used . In this one set of magnet repel and push the train up the track like levitation and another set move the floating train at high speed with no friction.

The train donot have any moving parts.As the magnet control the speed of train , therefore the train are quiter and smoother than conventional trains. These train can accelerate and de accelerate easily however the safety and comfort of passengers is not as good as conventional trains. These type of train are expensive to construct than ordinary train but the manufacturing process is quiet easy as a result of becomes easy to construct and maintain. Right now they are operational in three countries South Korea, Japan and China. They were also launched in U.K. for 10 years but were shutdown due to reliability problems.
