I NEED IT TO BE TYPED THANK YOU, What is the purpose of the auxiliary winding in a single-phase induction motor? Can we change the rotation of such a motor? Give REASONS for your answer.
Solution
A larger capacitor may be used to start a single phase induction motor via the auxilary winding if it is switched out by a centrifugal switch once the motor is up to speed. Moreover, the auxilary winding may be many more turns of havierwire than used in a resistance split-phase motor to mitigate excessive temperature rise.the result is that more starting torque is available for heavy loads like air conditioning compressors.this motor configuration works so well that it is available in multi-horsepower sizes.
