Hello,

As a Mechanical Engineering student taking an Internship is a very good activity in engineering, this will provide to jump into the core company job or any other aspect you want to do in your future.

The internship provides is a temporary position on with the emphasis on on-the-job training rather than merely employement.

One of the main Objective for doing an internship is that other who see your resume (when apply for a job) results how much intrested that you are in a specific field and they can understand that you will suits best for a particular job and they think that you have an ability to do a job under any circumstances (this is fuuly mirroring your intrest to a specified field)

You can ask for a proposal for your university that you want to be more interest towards the core company(Mechanical based industries) jobs and foster your career towards in that direction(i.e, planning for your career at your own aspect or simply self thinking and self decision).

If your are confident about your mind set then they can easily accept your proposal because the university will well known about the internship programmes which they get lot of proposals, isn\'t it?

Example-

I was very much interested for doing an internship at a (some x company) and want to broaden my chances for landing a job and jump-starting into which can I get an opportunity to foster my capabilities and helps to improve my technical skills and my career.
